McKinley Grove 5th Anniversary Picnic

Extended Housing celebrated the 5th anniversary of McKinley Grove with a community picnic on Friday, August 10th. It was a beautiful summer day and the event was attended by McKinley Grove residents, other clients of Extended Housing and community stakeholders. Extended Housing Maintenance Staff Al Germ and Kit Brandenburg were grilling hot dogs for the guests while other staff members helped to serve food. Baked beans, chips and drinks were also served. R. W. Sidley, Inc. generously donated a large tent that allowed guests to eat in the comfort of shade during the afternoon. In addition to the food, games were played throughout the event including corn hole, volley ball and a fun water balloon toss between staff and clients. T&T Bakery made a wonderful and delicious cake to commemorate the occasion and was enjoyed by all.

Many of you in our community continue to play a part in the lives of those living at McKinley Grove – and we thank you! There is still a lot of need for housing of this type and having access to safe and affordable housing is extremely important to our clients as they proceed on their journeys to wellness. We are committed to increasing housing options for people with severe and persistent mental illness in Lake County and receive vital financial support from the Lake County ADAMHS Board. We are very grateful for all of the support for McKinley Grove and look forward to the next five years of continued success.
