St. Gabriel’s Catholic School Holiday Craft Event

St. Gabriel’s Catholic School brought 14 hardworking child and adult volunteers to help Extended Housing’s clients make holiday gifts. Extended Housing hosted the event in its newly renovated community room located in the lower level of the Extended Housing Wellness Center. The volunteers brought their holiday cheer and helped our clients to create custom holiday cards, chocolate dipped spoons and lighted wine bottles. The empty wine bottles were filled with a custom set of holiday lights designed to fit in the bottle and then decorated with ribbon.

Extended Housing client Brandon attended the event and said, “I really enjoyed the sense of community there. It was great to make a connection with people that actually cared about me. I wasn’t able to afford a Christmas tree so I used the lighted wine bottle I made in its place. I enjoy drawing and doodling and I gave away the cards I made with my artwork to friends.”

In addition to the crafts, food was provided for all of the participants. Hearty chili was served along with warm apple cider and many different types of cookies and other desserts. Both volunteers and clients had a great time getting together before the holidays to make some fun and creative gifts.  We are very grateful to the St. Gabriel volunteers for providing our clients the opportunity to make handmade gifts for the holidays and more importantly showing them the love of the season.
