Homeless Outreach Worker

Housing Support Worker

Non-profit housing agency seeks experienced full-time Housing Support Worker to provide supportive services for persons with severe and persistent mental illness in Lake County. Duties include reporting requirements, direct service standards, completing annual recertifications and inspections for program compliance. Successful candidate will engage persons to obtain/maintain housing by teaching skills necessary for persons to be good tenants and productive community members. Flexible hours and some evening meetings may be required. Valid driver’s license, computer literate, BA in social service or related field/LSW preferred, prior experience working with mentally disabled and homeless population preferred. AmeriCorps VISTA Member

Extended Housing, Inc. is recruiting a full-time VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), a one-year service opportunity that is funded through the Ohio CDC Association, for June 2019 – June 2020.

Together with the innovative and enthusiastic director of development and community engagement at Extended Housing, Inc. the individual will work to lay a foundation that will improve our capacity to provide housing to individuals with severe mental illness in Lake County, Ohio.

Employment term is June 2019 to June 2020. The minimum age requirement is 18, and the desired education level is a college graduate.

A strong candidate will possess skills from the following list: Communications, community organization, computer/technology, conflict resolutions, fundraising/grant writing, leadership, public speaking, recruitment, teaching/tutoring, writing/editing, marketing, social media platforms, graphic design.

Duties will include:

  1. Developing a marketing plan for Extended Housing, Inc. that leverages existing assets, including social, digital, and print media, to raise awareness of the agency and the life-changing work it does.
  2. Develop EHI’s volunteer program
  3. Grow EHI’s network of community partners.

Candidates will be interviewed and selected by Extended Housing, Inc. staff. All VISTAs must also apply to the AmeriCorps VISTA program via the VISTA portal. The job posting will be closed as of April 30, 2019, so you MUST apply to the portal by that date.
